Do you consciously plan your day and stay with your plan no matter what happens?
What do you choose to focus your time and effort on?
Do you focus your efforts on the larger goals you have set and fit the smaller little issues that pop up each day in between your larger purpose or do you get caught up in the little things each day and forget your larger purpose?
Our success in life is a direct result of the actions we take.
If we choose to fill our day with the small mundane things that occur through out the day we will find it difficult to realize our larger dreams and goals.
We may seem really busy and we may be getting a bunch of little things done but if we honestly ask ourselves if we are truly working towards our larger goals we may be surprised with the answer.
It is not about being busy or working hard, we could be doing both but if we are busy working on things that are not relevant to our larger goals and dreams we will never achieve these larger goals and dreams.
You may be saying to yourself, but I have to answer so many emails during the day and phone keeps ringing and I have to answer every call, and my wife or my kids need me for this and that all the time.
All of this may very well be true and may be extremely difficult to change but if we let all of these things control our day we are letting our days and our life happen to us instead of us attacking and taking control of our days and our lives.
I am not saying don’t respond to your emails or don’t take or return phone calls or ignore your kids and wife.
What I am saying is take back control of your days and your life and you will find ways to achieve the type of success you desire.
We need to plan our days so that we are accomplishing things that will lead us to our ultimate goals and success.
We then fill in parts of our days with the other things that creep up and take our energy and attention.
If we block out time to address a task that we need to do for our greater success then that time should be kept dedicated to that task.
Once we have completed the task then we can go back and respond to or address the minor issues that have popped up while we were focused elsewhere.
If something major pops up once in a while that takes our focus away from what we are working on that is understandable.
The key is to let this be the exception and not the norm.
It is amazing how much more productive you can be and how much better you feel when you take back control of your time and life.
You will be amazed at what you can accomplish and how much better you feel about yourself and your success.
You will find you can actually fit more into your day and accomplish more by taking control of what is happening then if you just let your days happen to you.
I will share some of the things I have done to implement these ideas into my life and you can relay them to your life and events to make sure you are applying them properly.
I currently have a couple of income streams I leverage under the LLC I have formed.
I was struggling with how to balance all my responsibilities for the various opportunities as well as my responsibilities as a husband and a father.
So I took control of my days and it has made all the difference in not only what I am getting done but how I feel at the end of each day.
I have dedicated segments of my day to specific tasks for specific lines of business.
I only allow myself to focus on those tasks during that time and I do not respond to phone calls or emails from anyone until I complete the task I started.
For example I need to make 20 calls a day for my direct sales business, during the time I have allocated for those calls I do not respond to any email, I do not take any incoming calls and I solely focus my attention and effort to the task at hand.
This allows me to not get distracted with all the trite little issues that incoming emails can bring.
Once I completed my task of making the calls, which is part of my larger goal of generating a certain amount of revenue, I then check email and vm and respond.
I then transition over to my telecom consulting business and I handle my main responsibilities associated with achieving my larger goals with the business.
During the time I am focused on addressing the telecom business I do not distract myself with incoming emails or phone calls.
Each time we allow something outside of our control to take precedent over what we are trying to achieve we lessen our effectiveness and chance for success.
People that are truly successful in life find a way to take control of the events of their days so that they give proper time to their larger goals and find a way to fit in between the smaller things that keep us busy.
It is about managing your own day and controlling your time to ensure that we attack the day and the day doesn’t attack us.
