Posters: an Economical Advertising Tool
By: Andrew Michaels

Every small business struggles to come up with ways to  advertise itself.  Advertising is not cheap, and effective advertising  tools are very costly.  In order for a small businessperson to adequately  market itself, it must take advantage of every cost effective marketing tool  available.  Posters are one of these tools.

When you think of posters, you may think of those old wartime Uncle Sam deals  that tried to persuade people to join the military.  Or you might recall  an old movie  poster that promoted an upcoming film.  You might even  remember those boxing posters that made a big deal about the upcoming  championship fight.  But posters can be quite effective as an advertising  tool, as well.

Most of the advertising posters that you see are posted on electrical poles  alongside the road.  As annoying as they may be when you are driving,  those posters continue to be used because they work.  When you are trying  to advertise your business, do not neglect to consider those roadside poster  printings.

Here are some of the benefits of using posters as a marketing tool:

  1.      Low cost
Without a doubt, a poster  printing is one of the least expensive advertising methods  available.  You can have a quality printing done by a reputable company  for a relatively low price.  Make sure you search around and find a  commercial printer that you are comfortable with and that has a history of quality  work.

  2.      Location Flexibility
You can place your posters almost anywhere.  Obviously, you will have to  abide by local laws and regulations.  But, for the most part, posters are  the most flexible of all advertising tools.  In addition to placing them  on roadside poles, you can put them on buildings and vehicles as well.   Put some on your company car and turn them into mobile marketing tools!

  3.      Adaptability
If you design your color  poster printing effectively, it can appeal to a wide variety  of customers.  Keep your poster advertisements quite vague; do not corner  yourself into appealing to only a small customer base.  Focus on making  your posters attractive, appealing, and mysterious.  The idea is to bring  attention to your business, and an intriguing poster can do that effectively.

  4.      Timelessness
Along the same lines, a properly designed poster printing can be used for a  long time.  As long as you are not too specific on your poster (such as by  listing prices) you can reuse it many times.  Not only is this convenient  and time saving, but it saves you even more money.  Again, the idea is to  produce vague but intriguing posters that will bring in a wide range of  customers.
